Early voting starts today for three-person board race

Early voting begins Thursday February 3, 2022 for voters in Kay County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.

Nearly $5,000 raised for Museum roof thanks to Tonkawa Tribe

The Tonkawa Historical society this week issued a special thanks to The Tonkawa Tribe for “being an awesome host” for the bowling tournament held at the Hub for the Museum roof fundraiser, Valorie Buss said this week.

County administrative offices moving effective Feb. 16th

The Kay County Administrative Offices and the Kay County Election Board will be moving to the new Kay County Administration building starting February 16th. The County Administrative offices consist of the Assessor, County Clerk, County Commission’s Court and the Treasurer’s office.

TES Gets Playground Makeover

Have you heard an overwhelming sound coming from North Public Street? Lots of screaming and laughing?? You can relax. It’s just the excitement from kids who are experiencing the thrill of a new playground. Students were like little ants on a piece of candy! It was rewarding to watch. Plans for the upgrade began last May in hopes of completion in August. Unexpected delays in receiving equipment and the inability to secure technicians to install set the date back. The makeover was funded through the 2021-22 ESSER II Formula Fund. Included in the project are new swing sets, a large multipurpose station, freestanding climber, and artificial turf. The new addition will allow students to play outside in all kinds of weather and more opportunities to breathe the fresh air.

Extension Center moving Feb. 16th

The Kay County OSU Extension will be moving to the new Kay County OSU Extension building starting February 16th. The office will be closed February 16th with no phone or computer access. Our goal is to open to the public on February 17th with the understanding that the office will still be in a transition period. We appreciate your patience while we move into a building we hope all of Kay County will be proud of.

Rick Allan takes ward 4 council seat

Councilman Scott Klufa recently moved outside of the City Limits of Tonkawa and can no longer serve on the City Council. Scott represented Ward 4. Vacancies on the City Council are filled by an appointment by the four remaining City Councilmembers.

Roger Rister due at Gospel Jubilee Saturday

Roger Rister will be featured at the Ponca City Gospel Jubilee February 5th at 6:30 p.m. Roger is a talented southern Gospel singer with a smooth baritone voice, Roger is a recording artist and active pastor. Roger Rister has been featured at the Jubilee several times and is always a favorite of the crowd. Roger has traveled extensively throughout the years and loves to share God’s message in song and testimony, says his joy in life is to share through song, word and testimony the Love of God. We know you will enjoy this great evening with us. The Jubilee band will then take stage and present more of that loved gospel music with live music and talented musicians and singers. We hope you’ll join us!

Quilts of Valor to be featured at Pioneer Area Quilters Guild

Pioneer Area Quilters Guild will meet on Monday, February 7 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 1904 N. Pecan Road in Ponca City. The church requires participants wear face masks. Social hour will start at 10:00 a.m. with sign-in, library, workshop registration, stitch and assist lesson, and show and share of quilts and projects. The hospitality committee will provide water and tea. Attendees should bring their own covered drink cup and may bring their own food. Business meeting will be called to order at 11:00 a. m.
