Taylor Kaiser completing final year of medical school at OU

Taylor McAreavey Kaiser, a 2013 graduate of Tonkawa High School and Northern Oklahoma College, is completing her fourth and final year of medical school at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City. She was recently nominated to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Medical Society. Selection for AΩA is based on academics, leadership, character, professionalism, and community service. The AOA bylaws permit only the top one-sixth (16.67 percent) of the graduating class to be elected. This is a great honor and a reflection of her many accomplishments throughout medical school. As a member of AΩA, Taylor will be called on to continue to embrace the motto and mission of the Society “Be worthy to serve the suffering.”

Elementary school teachers receive 40 new books

First grade teachers at Tonkawa Elementary School received 40 new books for their ‘Rooted in Reading’ program thanks to generous donations from the Tonkawa Alumni Association, Mary’s Cafe, and the Veterans and Sports Committee of the Alumni Association. The Tonkawa Public Library facilitated the donation by purchasing the books with the money donated by these groups. Pat Keast makes a wonderful Caramel Apple cake and who doesn’t like caramel when combined with sweet apples and spices - I’ll have another slice, please. Pat also makes this cake in a variety of molds for giving as gifts or to accent in theme - as the picture of her star loaf.
