Back-to-school immunizations offered

Tonkawa schools ‘Return to Learn’ details are given

Tonkawa Public Schools will return to classes Thursday, Aug. 13. Enrollment for all grades will be next Tuesday, July 28, at the Event Center between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Elementary, midhi and high school enrollment will be next Tuesday

Tonkawa Public School will have enrollment for grades Kindergarten through 12th grade on Tuesday, July 28th from 8:00-6:00. They will be enrolling at the Tonkawa Event Center. New students will need to bring shot record, birth certificate, social security card and CDIB card if applicable. Pre-kindergarten students who did not enroll in June will need to come to this enrollment. Mid-high and high school students will be enrolling during this time period at the event center also. Due to Covid 19, officials are asking that only one parent and no children come to enrollment. They will be following social distancing guidelines. The school year will begin on Thursday, August 13th.

Northern graduates announced

Twenty-four students from Tonkawa and three from the Deer Creek-Lamont are among 478 graduates completing requirements for their associate degrees during the spring semester at Northern Oklahoma College, according to Rick Edgington, vice president for enrollment management and registrar.

Hillcrest Ensemble to perform at Full Moon Concert August 3

“Hillcrest Ensemble” will perform “The Great American Songbook” at the upcoming Full Moon Concert Friday, August 3 in Tonkawa Centennial Park, 301 East Grand in Tonkawa. Eight area musicians will present American Standards – including classics such as Blue Moon, Heart and Soul, Sentimental Journey, Georgia on my Mind, All of Me, In the Mood, On the Sunny Side of the Street and more popular favorites. Guest vocalists for the evening are Abby Davis, Kate Branstetter and Mallory Stolhand.

Dear Rusty: I have been a widow since November 2019. I retired under the Federal Civil Service Retirement System. Before my husband died, I made an appointment with Social Security to see if I could receive his Social Security if he passed on. I was told I could. Since he passed, Social Security has adamantly refused to let me have my husband’s Social Security. I have had many problems with them. Who is correct here? I have lost $1400 per month.
