Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) received the Gold Star School Award from the Oklahoma Association of Career & Technology Education (OKACTE). This designation, sponsored by OKACTE, provides recognition to technology center districts with outstanding programs designed to meet a broad spectrum of community needs.
Fundraisers for two Native American tribes heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic have received thousands of dollars from Irish donors, who cite tribal support during Ireland’s Great Famine of the 19th century as the reason. “The Choctaw donating to Irish was not just philanthropic, but it was also a critique of imperialism in the United States,” Conor Donnan of the University of Pennsylvania said. “These were nations that were victims of the Anglo-Protestant imperial project.”
The IOOF Cemetery is in need of donations to continue operation of the cemetery, Garry Davis announced this week. Brent Bailey is caretaker. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 121 with checks made to the Tonkawa Cemetery for upkeep.

Gov. Kevin Stitt and State Supt. of Public Instruction Joy Hofmeister have awarded Incentive Grants totaling $16 million to 150 Oklahoma school districts to help mitigate the impacts of COVID- 19 on student learning and ensure students are able to access learning opportunities in the new school year.
