60 years ago, February 11, 1960

County Courthouse is closed to public until further notice

On Monday, March 16, 2020 at the regular weekly meeting of the Kay County Commissioner, an emergency resolution declaring a State of Emergency for Kay County was approved. This declaration will allow first responders to more easily access needs used to address and protect against the COVID-19 virus. It will also decrease possible public exposure to the virus.

How to make your county tax payments with closings

Kay County Treasurer Christy Kennedy wants the public to be aware of guidance the Treasurer’s office can provide during the closing of the Kay County Courthouse to the public concerning tax payments. The courthouse has been closed to the public due to the State of Emergency declaration by the Kay County Commissioners due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Masonic Lodge presents check to THS art

The Tonkawa Masonic Lodge recently presented a matching project check for $582.00 to Dawn Huff THS art instructor pictured left to right are Masonic member Brian Parrish, Mrs. Huff, Masonic member Roland Jones and Mrs. Huff’s 1st hour 8th grade class. The money will be used for art fee scholarships and consumable materials for the classroom.

Students wash downtown windows

Students in Mr. Kurt Kirtley’s and Mrs. Dawn Huff’s second and fourth hour classes washed and cleaned the windows downtown following the recent film festival. The windows were painted by Jena Kodesh and students from NOC. Northern conducting online classes March 23-April 3

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to protect the Northern Oklahoma College campus community, NOC will be conducting online classes the two weeks following spring break, beginning Monday, March 23 through Friday, April 3.

County Democrats postpone meeting

The meeting which was scheduled for Tuesday, March 24th has been canceled. During this difficult time in our country, we believe that people should stay home as much as possible. We encourage everyone to practice handwashing, keeping your hands off your face, social distancing and staying home if you feel ill. We also encourage people to check on your older relatives and neighbors. We all need to look out for the health and wellbeing of our communities.

Gospel Jubilee is now closed

The Ponca City Gospel Jubilee will be closed temporarily at this time to ensure the safety of the community.

Deadline to change Party Affiliation is March 31

Oklahomans who want to change their party affiliation before the Primary or Runoff Primary Elections later this year must do so no later than Tuesday, March 31, according to Cheryl Howard, Secretary of the Kay County Election Board.
