On Monday, March 16, 2020 at the regular weekly meeting of the Kay County Commissioner, an emergency resolution declaring a State of Emergency for Kay County was approved. This declaration will allow first responders to more easily access needs used to address and protect against the COVID-19 virus. It will also decrease possible public exposure to the virus.
As part of the action, the County Commissioner voted to close the Kay County Courthouse to the public until further action of the Board. This action was taken to protect the public and county employees from exposure to the virus.
County employees will continue to work. Updates will be posted to the county website at https://www.courthouse.kay.ok.us. and released to all local newspapers.
Payments may be made to the County Treasurer, County Court Clerk and the DA Supervision office through mail and online payments. All court cases will be rescheduled and notices will be mailed.
Starting March 16th 2020 the Kay County Sheriff s Office / Kay County Detention Facility lobby will be closed to the public. Any business that needs to conducted, we encourage the public to contact the Kay County Sheriffs Office 580-362-3250 or the Kay County Detention Center 580-362-3393. Inmate visitation will be done by phone, text or video.
