On Monday mornings at 10 o’clock, a group of women meet at the First United Methodist Church of Tonkawa, to build soft humble ‘Joy Bears’. The Joy Bear Ministry began in January of this year with one purpose in mind: to spread Christ’s joy and comfort to those experiencing life transitions, illness, or grief. Every Joy Bear will have been present in worship and prayed for by the congregation in our ‘Joy Bear Blessing Service’ to encourage and bless those receiving a Joy Bear. Anyone is welcome to participate. You don’t even need to know how to sew. The group also needs those who can use scissors, tie bows and accessorize. Some just love to Stuff. We just need those with the desire to reach out to others with the Joy of Christ... one Bear at a time!
