The deadline for a popular state scholarship program is quickly approaching for Oklahoma students who just completed eighth, ninth, tenth or 11th grade. This is the final opportunity for students who were 11th-graders in the 202223 school year to apply for the program.

Twelve Tonkawa area residents will be selected for “Leadership Tonkawa,” an eight-month program that builds leadership skill and teaches aspects of the Tonkawa community.

The Tonkawa Fire Department responded to 28 ambulance calls transporting 23, and 2 fire calls during the past week. People who are planning on burning in our jurisdiction in the county please call the fire department at (580) 628-3251 and advise us where and when you are planning to burn to deter unnecessary call outs. As regular session came to an end, one of the highlights of the year was the opportunity for Senator Coleman and I to have the Lincoln Elementary School 5th-grade chorus with Amy Muegge from Ponca City perform in the Capitol rotunda. I’m so proud of these outstanding young people and their talent. It’s always great to have folks from the district visit the Capitol.
The IOOF Cemetery is in need of donations to continue operation of the cemetery, Garry Davis announced this week. Brent Bailey is caretaker. Donations can be sent to P.O.
