The McCarter Museum is open from 1-3 p.m. each Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Other times for tours or visiting may be made by calling (580) 761-7576 or any of the numbers listed on the door. Visitors are always welcome.

Tonkawa teachers and support personnel have been rehired for the 2020-2021 school term, Superintendent Lori Simpson announced.

Pioneer Tech enters Phase 2 re-opening

Pioneer Technology Center has made plans for Phase II of the COVID-19 Pandemic which will begin Saturday, May 16th. Fulltime program students completed their distance learning May 15th. These Full-time Program completers and continuing students will have access to their final grades by May 18th.

Tonkawa’s senior parade Saturday was a huge success. Hundreds of cars streamed through the downtown area to honor each and every 2020 Tonkawa senior, pictured above, at the Santa Fe depot following the parade. Each senior is featured on a downtown lamp post as well.

Childhood hunger

Three hundred million children around the world rely on school meals as their primary source of nutrition. As the COVID-19 pandemic has limited access to many of these programs, new research suggests that hunger poses developmental risks for young children. Sharon Wolf from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and a team of researchers found that hunger slowed development of cognitive skills like short-term memory, literacy, and numeracy.
