Honor our Past Veterans
The community is invited to help the American Legion honor our past veterans. We need your help to place flags on the 600 plus graves of our veterans. All are welcome, families and singles. Meet at the cemetery to put out flags on Friday May 22nd at 5:00 p.m .and help retrieve flags on Monday, Memorial Day 5:00 p.m. Questions contact Dawn Huff 580-628-7472 or 580-628-3893.
Billings Union Cemetery Service
A Memorial Day Service will be held on Monday, May 25, 2020 at the Billings Union Cemetery starting at 11:00 a.m. Kurtis Stoll will be the speaker. Taps will be played by John Chestnut and Kevin Stoll will be in charge of the gun salute. Donations are being accepted for maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery. Donations can be made at the service or mailed to Carrie Boyer 615 S. Central Billings, OK 74630. For more information please call David Hayton at 405-880-5411. Everyone is welcome. Chamber sets annual car show
The Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce has set its annual “Good Vibrations” car show for saturday, Aug. 16, at Blinn Park. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. There will also be a bicycle show to coincide. Questions: Call 628-2220.
No IOOF Cemetery program Monday
“In these times when a lot of what we have done routinely is no longer an option we need to continue with our traditions safely, American Legion Post 71 will not have the gathering at the cemetery but we will still honor the fallen. Dawn Huff organized putting up flags on service members graves, the speech will be published online and in the newspaper. I am sure that we are not the only American Legion post that has struggled with how we would honor our war dead on the upcoming Memorial Day. Pre-K enrollment to begin
Tonkawa Elementary School pre-kindergarten enrollment is now taking enrollment appointments, Principal Kelly Martin announced this week. Please call 580-628-2593 to schedule an appointment and to enroll.
All children who are or will be four by Sept. 1 are eligible. Parents should bring the child’s birth certification, social security card and shot record at time of enrollment appointment.
Eddy New Home Cemetery cancels meet
The Eddy New Home Cemetery Association will not have its Annual Board Meeting at this time do to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
