Hello Tonkawa! This week in Buc Nation, we have softball senior night on Monday against Medford. There is also a game against Blackwell on Tuesday and Regionals to end the week. There is a cross country meet on Tuesday in Ponca City and Cowboy Jamboree on Friday in Stillwater. Football endured a loss to Stroud, but they will better themselves for Friday’s game at Quapaw. Juniors are selling mums until the end of the week, and don’t forget to check the homecoming themes, as the week approaches!

This summer I had the amazing fortune to travel around the British Isles. As I spent time in the cities as well as the pastoral landscapes, I absolutely loved the rich history and deep culture. One of my favorite stops was Edinburgh, Scotland; what a beautiful city. It seemed that with every step I was taking a historic journey and no matter where I stood I could always look up and see Edinburgh Castle standing like a sentinel above the city.

A.J. Harmon Hello and good week, Tonkawa! Spirits are high at Tonkawa Public Schools! Homecoming is right around the corner, and preparations have begun; juniors are fundraising by selling mums until September 27. Be sure to buy one from your favorite junior (obviously me!) so you can be homecoming ready! In addition to mums being on sale, homecoming shirt orders are due on Thursday. In the sports world, we have some exciting events coming up. Although football had the minor setback of a loss to Fairview last week, we will pick up our pride and play our best against Stroud this week. Cross Country will be hosting a meet on Saturday! Softball will compete in the Pioneer Festival over this weekend. Wish all of our teams the best!

Jesus told his audience that “unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:20). On the surface it sounds like he was praising them for having so much righteousness. Now this is odd as He often criticized them for their hypocrisy and said, “you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness” (Matt. 23:28).

Plenty big ticket votes await Oklahomans in November. But one key issue will be missing.

Oklahoma’s November ballot will include many big items to vote on, including our next president, a corporation commissioner and our newest state lawmakers.
