The City of Tonkawa is the winner of the first annual “Our Local Power Champion” for 2018, it was announced at the recent meeting of the mayor and council. Dave Osborn with Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority (OMPA) presented the award to the city council Monday, March 19. It is the first award given statewide by OMPA and will be given annually to a member city. Mayor Ken Smith, Vice Mayor Rick Allan and Councilmen Jack Evans, Glenn Cope and Charles Conaghan also decided to name the new street going in just north of the Dollar General Store as Redbud Avenue.
