Bryan Jordan is a 2015 graduate of Tonkawa High School. After High school Bryan attended Northern Oklahoma College. In 2016 Bryan attended Autry Technology Center where he obtained his State of Oklahoma EMT License. In 2017 he attended Oklahoma State University’s Fire 1 training. Bryan married his high school sweetheart Cassie Marney from Waukomis in 2019. They bought a home in Tonkawa where they welcomed a son, Colt in 2020. Bryan worked for the City of Tonkawa from 2016-2018 as a firefighter and EMT. Bryan went on to work for Kay County Sheriff’s office and passed his Cleet certification in 2020. Bryan was offered an opportunity to come back to work for Tonkawa as the Fire Marshall for the City of Tonkawa. Bryan and his wife Cassie are excited for this opportunity to be of service to their hometown.
The annual Lucky Duck Derby sponsored by the Tonkawa High School Alumni Association, who is partnering with the Tonkawa Masonic Lodge for this event, will be held on Sunday, July 4th, immediately following the parade downtown Tonkawa at the canal on West Grand Avenue just west of the Christian Church.
The New Tulsans quartet will be appearing at the Ponca City Gospel Jubilee Saturday, June 26th. at 6:30 p.m. If you love quartet music you won’t want to miss this wonderful group of men from Tulsa Oklahoma. “ The New Tulsans” are a Southern Gospel Quartet made up of Born Again Christian men who love to sing about Jesus and have been singing Southern Gospel music for many years. The New Tulsans Quartet was started a couple of years after the Tulsans Quartet was retired by two of the former members of that group. Dr. Ken Hancock and Scott Eudey decided that they wanted to continue singing so they invited Stephen Stebbins and Don Cagle to join them. After five years, Scott needed to leave the group. The invitation for a lead singer was issued to Jerry Ward who accepted.
Candala Shenold is the Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) June Student of the Month. Shenold is an adult student from Ponca City and represents the Practical Nursing Program. Her instructor Michelle Tripp says, “Candala is a great role model and leader. She excels in her clinical opportunities and provides compassionate, competent, and quality care to patients.” Students of the month are given a PTC refill cup and a certificate of achievement. They are encouraged to fill up their cups with their favorite beverages at no cost for the entire month. The Tonkawa Fire Department responded to 14 ambulance calls transporting 10, and 3 fire calls during the past week. This week we certified 16 people for CPR from Tonkawa Casino and our blood drive with OBI was a success!
