The Tonkawa Lady Bucs and Pawnee Black Bears won the North Country Invitational Basketball Tournaments Saturday night at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa.
The Lady Bucs outlasted Pawhuska 45-40 while the Black Bears beat Mannford 61-45.
Camaryn Alexander led the Lady Bucs with 18 points. Gunnar Gordon led the Black Bear boys in the finals with 17.
In the 3rd place games, Blackwell boys beat Pawhuska 53-40 while Fairview girls beat Mannford 48-30. In the consolation games, Woodland boys beat Fairview 75-60 and Pawnee edged Blackwell 47-46.
Tonkawa’s Lady Bucs won three in a row at the tourney and upped their season record to 9-7 for the year so far. The Buc boys lost three in a row and fell to 2-13 for the year.
Both Tonkawa teams were to see action Tuesday night vs. Morrison for Homecoming. The teams go to DCLA this Friday and host Alva here next Tuesday, Feb. 4.
