A total of six athletes from Tonkawa attended the five-day girls’ basketball camp for Grades 7-12 directed by Greg Krause, head coach for the Northern Lady Mavs.Tonkawa athletes included Teagyn Beliel, Cabrey Boland, Karter James, Jayla Paul, and Jazzlyn Burris.Awards included as follows: Jayla Paul – 3 on 3 (3rd Place), 2 on 2 (3rd Place). Karter James – 3 on 3 (1st Place), 1 on 1 (1st Place), Free Throws (1st Place), Outstanding Rebounder.Cabrey Boland – 2 on 2 (2nd Place), Hot Shot (1st Place), Free Throws (2nd Place).Jazzlyn Burris – 2 on 2 (1st Place), Jared Weiberg Hustle Award.Campers worked on mass drills, station drills and team transition offense skills, including work on floor balance, filling lanes, court spacing, advancing the ball and shot selection. They also participated in one-on-one, two-on-two and three-on-three drills; hot shot and free throw contests; and league games.Assisting at camp were Mike Heater, Head Girls’ Coach at South Haven, Kansas; Jackson Jacobs, Assistant Boys’ Coach at Blackwell; current Lady Mavs Maddy Wehrenberg, Landri Hussey, Mattie Rich, Keely Hussey, and Allison Flowers.
