Tonkawa basketball seasons came to an end in the Class 2A regional basketball tournament at Hennessey last Thursday and Friday.
The girls fell to host Hennessey 54-52 Thursday.
The boys lost to Hennessey 37-76 and Cordell 46-58.
Tonkawa’s Lady Bucs finished 4-9 on the season.
Head Coach Kelsey Smith said she “hated that we weren’t able to get as many games as we wanted to, but the girls improved a lot. I’m really proud of the girls.”
While the boys were 2-20 on the season, they were able to pick up a district championship with one of those wins over Mounds.
“After a rough season the guys were really playing much better at the end,” Head Coach Peter Grein said. “The Cordell coach and some of their fans even came up after the game and told me they were impressed by how hard our guys played. I am very encouraged on what we can do next year.”
