Awards for the 2019 Tonkawa Buc football season were given at a Sunday afternoon program by the Quarterback Club.
Head Coach Mike Kirtley presided with the assistance of Coaches Stony Fath, Kale Dice and Gage
Martin.
Peyton Day won the Chris Lucas Memorial Award, given annually by The Tonkawa News.
Parker Miller won the Joe Esch Memorial Award, given annually by the Esch family.
The Jim Minor Memorial went to linemen Joby Jauregui and Austin Sharp.
Kirtley announced that three members had been chosen to the Class A All-Star team by the Oklahoma Coaches Association -- Peyton Day at linebacker, Parker Miller in the secondary and Austin
Sharp on the offensive line. One has to make the all-star list in order to be considered for all-state.
Five seniors were presented all-district awards -- Cody Morgan, honorable mention tight end; Joby
Jauregui, honorable mention defensive end; Peyton Day, outside linebacker of the year; Parker Miller, free safety of the year; and Austin Sharp, noseguard of the year.
Kirtley announced he was issuing a 75 day challenge to all underclassmen to begin lifting at 6:45 a.m. each morning.
The Buc head coach also introduced ball girls, trainers, and members of the team by class -- freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors.
Special underclassmen awards were presented as follows: Ironman award -- Clay Massey.; Special teams -- Brandan Ochoa.; Blade award -- Gabe Summers. Scout team award -- Tuff Crosby
All-Coaches team awards -- Kai Day, Jaidyn Guzman, Jake Randall, Jake Morgan, Brendan Ochoa,
Noah Campbell, Miccael Brown, Dante Mendoza, Nathan Anderson, Carson Robinson, Clay Massey,
Tristan Burdick and Gabe Summers.
