The Northern Oklahoma College basketball teams split a pair of games Wednesday night. The Lady Mavs beat Cowley 87-75, the Mavs lost to #15 Hutchinson 100-96.Lady Mavs 87, Cowley 75What a difference a week makes.Last week, Cowley beat the Lady Mavs by 25 points, this week NOC (3-2) turned the tables with an 87-75 win Wednesday night at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.Jordan Holman led five in double figures with 24 points. Delaney Reimer added 14, Shelby Rayner 12, Jatalyah Williams 12, and Travisha Cogdell 10.Addie Trent led the Lady Mavs with 10 rebounds while Holman added four assists and Rayner three steals.“I thought our team defense was much improved at protecting dribble penetration and defending their hard-cutting offense,” said coach Greg Krause. “On offense, I felt like we did a pretty good job of reading and reacting to their defensive sets. It was a good game for us in terms of seeing improvement in several areas.”The two teams were tied at 46-46 when the Lady Mavs went on an 18-11 run to end the quarter taking a 64-57 lead.NOC led 74-67 with 3:00 left when the Lady Mavs went on a 13-8 run to finish the game. Ikwumere 4.Hutchinson 100, Mavs 96The NOC Mavs gave #15 Hutchinson (KS) all they wanted Wednesday night but fell to the Blue Dragons 100-96.NOC (2-3) was led by sophomore Syrus Grisby with 23 points.Jalen Johnson added 19, Fede Federiko 17, and D.J. Jones 12.NOC led the Blue Dragons 42-41 late in the first half before Hutchinson made a late run at the end of the half to take a 49-45 lead into the dressing room.The Mavs tied Hutch at 51-51 but the visitors made a big run in the second half building an 97-78 lead.NOC wasn’t done as NOC went on a 9-0 run cutting the lead to 97-87.
