MENA, Arkansas -- Northern Oklahoma College split a pair of games Sunday against Rich Mountain in Mena, Arkansas.
The Mavs women (8-7-2) dominated Rich Mountain 2-0 while the Maverick men (4-10-3) were whipped 5-0. The Maverick women are 7-5-2 in Region 2 while the men are 3-5-2.
Mavs Women 2, Rich Mountain 0
The Mavs completely dominated the first half and moved the ball really well on a very narrow field. In the first half, the Mavericks best chances fell to Maddie Cochran and Savannah Nelson. Cochran hit a great strike which was nicely punched out of the net by Rich Mountain’s goalkeeper.
Nelson nearly scored her 2nd of the year when a pass across the edge of box came to her, however she hit it just over the bar. NOC continued dominate possession however were unable to have any more real clean cut chances.
In the second half, the Mavs took the lead from a corner. Emma Peak delivered a great cross onto a running Sofie Joergensen who headed the ball in the top corner. Skylar Yocham picked up her 10th goal of the year when running onto a ball that slipped behind Rich Mountain’s right back.
Yocham calmly popped the ball into the net after. Nancy Herr would pick up the assist. The Mavs continued to look after the ball for the remainder of the second half and came away with the 2-0 win. Madeline Kindred would pick up her 5th shutout of the year.
With the win, NOC Women’s Soccer locked down a playoff spot which will played Nov. 2 against Seminole State at 5 p.m. at D. Bruce Selby Stadium in Enid.

Rich Mountain scored early and often in a 5-0 win.
The game was being played at the Mena High School football field while Rich Mountain’s soccer field is under construction. The football field was seventeen yards more narrow than Northern’s field.
Rich Mountain scored early in the game and then added another goal midway through the first half. The Bucks would go on to score three more in the second half with two of those goals coming against Maverick reserves.
