Nine players from the Tonkawa area attended the Northern Oklahoma College Girls’ Basketball Camp for Grades 1-3 June 27-29.Attending the camp from Tonkawa were Kalani Kienholz, Kyndall Kienholz, Lynnlea Owen, Joelie Hembree and Amay Zinn. Also attending were Kaci Ashely and Karis Ashley from Midwest City while Jersi Childs attended from Frontier. Kaylee Hohmann also attended from DCLA.NOC Lady Mavs Head Coach Greg Krause, assisted by NOC players Keely Hussey, Landri Hussey, Maddy Wehrenberg, and Nevaeh Taylor ran the three-day event.According to Krause, the focus was on introducing basic skills such as dribbling, passing, defensive and varied offensive skills. Lowered goals were used to teach shooting fundamentals.On the final day, campers demonstrated their skills for their parents. Each girl received a T-shirt, a regulation size basketball and a certificate of completion.
