Northern Oklahoma College split a pair of conference games Sunday afternoon against NEO.
The NOC women (3-6) improved to 2-4 in conference play with a 2-0 win while the NOC men (2-9) lost to NEO 2-1. The Maverick men are 1-3 in conference play.
Mavs’ Women 2, NEO 0
In NOC’s 2-0 win, Maddie Cochran opened the scoring in the 58th minute scoring off a pass from Skylar Yocham. Janet Moreno added a second in the 89th minute with brilliant individual effort. She scored after receiving a ball from Sofie Joergensen. Moreno dribbled past three players to score the clinching goal.
NEO 2, Mavs’ Men 1
Northern and NEO’s Sunday game went down to the final seconds unfortunately for the Mavericks they would give the game away with just four seconds to go.
Tied at 1-1, the game was destined for overtime until the Mavs had a throw in with ten seconds left in the game in their defensive third. For some reason the Mavericks threw the ball into their own box.
