The NOC Mavs clinched second place in the Region 2 Standings Friday with a doubleheader sweep of NOC Enid at Maverick Field.The Mavs rallied for a 9-8 first game win and then routed the Jets 15-5 in Game 2.Landen Johnson had six hits in the doubleheader while Blade Carver added five for NOC.In Game 1, NOC Enid jumped out to a 5-0 lead but the Mavs rallied to tie the game at 5-5 after two innings. After the Jets took a 7-5 lead, NOC scored four runs in the 6th to take a 9-7 lead.The Jets rallied for one run in the 7th but Logan Taylor struck out Brandon Pierre for the final out giving the Mavs a 9-8 win.Landen Johnson and Rick Requejo had three hits each while Carson Taylor added two hits for the Mavs. Blade Carver, Johnson, and Larry Edwards, Jr. drove in two runs each.Caleb Lunnon worked five innings allowing six runs, Taylor worked the final two innings to earn the win from the NOC bullpen.In Game 2, the Mavs broke open a close game with 11 runs over the final three innings.The Jets led 5-4 until the Mavs exploded for the 15-5 win.Carver had four hits including a double and a home run for the Mavs driving in three runs. Johnson had another good game for NOC with three hits and three runs driven home while Edwards and Carson Taylor had two hits each.Nakni Anna was the winner working five innings with Carson Loyd and Kaegan Baker working the final three innings.The Mavs (37-17) improved to 18-11 in conferen while NOC Enid (33-21) fell to 17-12 in conference. The Mavs are at NOC Enid Sunday at 1 p.m. in the regular season finale.In Game 3, the NOC Mavs completed a three game sweep of NOC Enid Sunday with a 14-5 drubbing of the Jets at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.The Mavs (38-17) finished the conference season at 19-11, good enough for second place in the West Division. NOC Enid (33-22, 17-13) finished third in the West Division.The Mavs scored early and often on Sunday as the Mavs led 12-4 after three innings and never looked back in the 14-5 win.Landen Johnson continued his hot hitting with four hits including a home run and four runs batted in.
