The NOC Tonkawa Mavs swept Northeast (NE) Community
College this past weekend at Maverick Field in Tonkawa.
NOC (5-0) is ranked 20th in the pre-season NJCAA poll.
“Two big wins today,” said head coach Ryan Bay after Saturday’s sweep. “We need to clean up some things offensively and work ahead more on the mound but still a good day. Our guys competed for 14 innings.”
The Mavs outscored Northeast (NE) 20-13 over the four days and made just four errors in the four games.
A.J. Moore, Jacob Ellis, Blake Hubbard, and Chase DeFillippo each provided quality starts for the Mavs while Kirby Lohrengel added two saves from the bullpen, Jaken Snider and Josh Bumgarner had one save each.
Offensively, Ben MacNaughton had five hits while Geovanni
Blackshaw had four. Sean Klein contributed a solo home run in
Game 1.
MacNaughton and Blackshaw had two doubles each.
