PRATT, Kansas – The 6th ranked Northern Oklahoma College Mavs baseball team split two road games Saturday at Pratt, Kansas.
NOC (11-2) won the first game 2-1 in eight innings and dropped the night cap 2-1.
“Both our starters (Jacob Ellis and Blake Hubbard) had strong outings,” said Mavs’ coach Ryan Bay.
“We also had big performances from Bryson Armstrong, Kirby Lohrengel, and Josh Bumgarner out of the pen. We pitched well enough to get the sweep but just failed to string hits together at the right time in Game 2. We have to give Pratt pitchers credit. Looking forward to getting another crack at them Friday at our place.”
In Game 1, the Mavs scored the go-ahead run in the 8th inning when Jaken Snider drove home
Ben MacNaughton with a two-out single to give the Mavs a 2-1 lead.
In the 4th, the Mavs took a 1-0 lead on an rbi ground out from Giovanni Blackshaw that scored Bryan Burgos.
Armstrong earned the win in relief tossing 2.1 innings of scoreless relief in back of starter Jacob Ellis.
Lohrengel earned the save with a perfect 8th inning.
In Game 2, the Mavs lost on a passed ball in the 7th inning 2-1.
The Mavs had six hits, Sean Klein homered for the Mavs. Klein had three hits on the day for NOC.
