Northern Oklahoma College women’s soccer didn’t have many chances against #5 Seminole State last Friday, but took advantage of an early opportunity in a 1-0 victory over the Trojans.
The Mavs improved to 8-3 with the win with three conference games remaining. The nations’ leading goal scorer, Milica Bulatovic stole the ball from a Seminole defender and shot the ball past the diving goalkeeper to put the Mavs up 1-0 in the fourth minute of the game. That would be all the offense the Mavericks would need as the team defended hard and Larissa Haagsma made some huge saves to keep the shut out. “We had one chance to win this game,” said coach Michael DuRoy. “That was to score on the counter and defend for our lives. The girls did that. Milica scored a nice goal. She is the best player in the country, and she proves it every game. After the goal we had to defend for the rest of the game. What the girls did today is extremely hard. They worked their socks off. Seminole is very good. To not allow them to score is quite an accomplishment.”
“I was happy for Larissa,” he added.
“She played a great game.” “Our crowd was very vocal today,” DuRoy said.
“They certainly played a role in the win.”
