North Country starts Friday
A walk-off singled led Tonkawa’s Lady Bucs past Caney Valley 7-6 on Monday. Tonkawa trailed 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Skylee Perkins singled on a 1-1 county scoring two runs.
The Lady Bucs are now 5-3 on the young season and were to play Pawhuska here Tuesday night before going into North Country Tourney action Friday.
Monday was the first time the Lady Bucs had been in action since Aug. 20. The Morrison tournament was rained out over the weekend.
Five teams are in the North Country Tournament -- Tonkawa, Pioneer, Alva, Glencoe and Garber.
Tonkawa will play Pioneer at noon Friday at Lady Buc field, then play Garber at 2 p.m. the same day. The Lady Bucs will play Glencoe at 11 a.m. saturday followed by Alva at 1 p.m., all at Lady Buc field.

Camaryn Alexander tripled and Alyssa Pando doubled in the 7-6 come-from-behind win over Caney Valley Monday.
Perkins had two RBI’s, while Autumn Robert, Taylor Mercer and Kristin Martin each had one.
Martin also had two stolen bases. Morgan Hall had one.
Martin scored three runs, Alexander two, Pando and Hall one each.
Mercer pitched all seven innings, striking out eight.
Tonkawa 11 Nowata 6
Tonkawa’s Lady Buc softball team got multiple hits in an 11-6 win over Nowata Tuesday, aug. 20.
Jaci Johnson and Camaryn Alexander singled twice each while skylee Perkins, Alyssa Pando and Aston Linton added one each. alexander scored three runs, Perkins two, Johnson, Kristin Martin, Pando, Linton and Rylee Hampton one each.
Alexander, Johnson and Linton each had RBI’s. Alexander stole three bases, Pando two and Johnson one.
Taylor Mercer pitched all seven innings, striking out four.
