“Our kids hit good and there wasn’t any loafing on any plays,” Buc Head Coach Mike Kirtley said this week while preparing for Morrison.Those areas were much improved at Blackwell from a week ago at Perry.But.Here we go again.“We preached all last week to our kids not to get worked up about things you can’t control,” Kirtley said.But the Bucs were still penalized 11 times for 120 yards vs. Blackwell.“We have to reduce the penalties and turnovers,” Kirtley said.Tonkawa fumbled the ball away three times -- once into the endzone for a touchback.The highly touted Morrison Wildcats come to Tonkawa this Friday. Kick off is at 7 p.m.It will be a three-game home stand for the Bucs. They’ll open District A-3 play Oct. 1 vs. Crescent here and host Watonga Oct. 8 for Homecoming.The 2020 Buc-Morrison game was cancelled due to COVID-19.“It’ll be a match-up between two great tradition-rich programs this Friday,” Kirtley said. “It should be a good one. It always is.”The Wildcats bring a 1-2 record into Buc Stadium with season opening losses to OCS 0-14 and Kiefer 14-16, both 2A ranked schools.They beat Haskell 34-0 last week to tune up for the Bucs.The Bucs are 2-1 with wins over Newkirk and Blackwell and a 12-13 loss to Perry.The Wildcats will be in a wing-T spread this year. “They’ll throw more than usual,” Kirtley said. “They are big and rangey.”Defensively, Morrison will be in a four front. “They’ll run a Nebraska-type defense where they try to keep everything in front of them,” the Buc head coach said.
