Sam Godwin left his mark early on what will likely be his final Bedlam.The senior forward led No. 13 Oklahoma with 20 points including 14 in the first half as the Sooners rolled Oklahoma State 80-65 on Saturday night at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. Kobe Elvis found Godwin inside for buckets on the first two possessions of the game.Godwin would score each of his team’s first six points, setting the stage for a career-high night on the offensive end. The Southmoore graduate only missed two shots from the field in the first half and the Sooners had a 43-26 lead heading into halftime.The Cowboys shot 26% from the field in the first half and turned the ball over 11 times. The Sooners turned those first half turnovers into 16 points and shot 52% from the field.They cooled off in the second half. Jeremiah Fears scored 11 second half points on 5-9 shooting but the rest of the Sooners went 9-21 (43% from the field).They led by as many as 27 with 3:26 remaining before the Cowboys closed the game on a 21-4 run.The Sooners led from wire to wire in their first meeting with their in-state rivals since moving to the Southeastern Conference. They’ve now won three straight over OSU, including a sweep last season.Five Sooners finished in double figures. Fears scored 17 points with five assists and Elvis added 15 on 5-8 shooting.Oklahoma (10-0) entered Saturday as one of eight undefeated teams remaining in Division I college basketball.Up Next: The Sooners will look to remain undefeated when they head to the Jumpman Invitational next week against Michigan.
