Tonkawa Head Coach Mike Kirtley has this warning:
“Last week we learned we gotta’ come out ready to play every ball game.
“This week we gotta overcome the insanity of Homecoming, so focus will be big this Friday night.”
Kick off is at 7 p.m. vs. Hinton at Buc Stadium.
Homecoming coronation will be at halftime.
Against OCA a week ago, it was 14-6 at halftime, then the Bucs came to life and scored 30 unanswered points to post a lop-sided 44-6 win.
“We made some ajdustments at halftime and it ended up all right. A lot of kids got to play, so we were happy about that,” Kirtley said.
Hinton is a lot like OCA, Kirtley said. “Their record is misleading,” he continued. “They’ll be a handful. They have a big fullback and a big o-line.”
Offensively, the Comets will be in a flexbone and a four-front defensively.
Hinton is 1-4 for the season and 0-2 in the league.
They won the season opener vs. Hennessey 14-13, but since have lost four in a row -- 43-46 to Mangum, 17-21 to Merritt, 14-18 to OCA and 0-37 to OBA.
