Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa athletic selected Lauren
Coates as the NOC Student Athlete of the Week for Feb. 3.
Coates is a 5-7 freshman from Luther, Oklahoma, and Crawford is a 6-7 freshman from Shady Dale, Georgia.
In one game last week, Coates had 17 points, seven rebounds, four steals, shot 67 percent from the field and 9 for 13 from the free throw line.
“Lauren (Coates) always plays with great energy,” said coach
Greg Krause. “She was very productive for us defensively and offensively. She made a lot of hustle plays. That kind of work ethic is so crucial to a team’s success.”
Crawford had 10 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Seminole.
“Malik (Crawford) played his most complete game of the year against Seminole,” said coach Donnie Jackson. “He crashed the offensive boards very hard, he finished in traffic against bigger defenders and really defended. Once Malik becomes consistent, he could be a real force. He needs to maintain his effort level for longer periods of time but I’m proud to see him have success, especially when I’ve been pushing him to do more.”
