Tonkawa’s football Bucs return home for the first time of the 2022 season, hosting Class 2A Perry at 7 p.m. Friday at Buc Stadium.Tonkawa lost to Perry a year ago 12-13.The Bucs are riding high after a 28-6 win over Newkirk last Friday night.Perry comes into Buc Stadium with a 1-1 record, winning over Mannford in week 0, 24-13 and losing to Luther last Friday 0-28.“Perry has a quarterback that has exceptional speed and is a good thrower as well,” Head Coach Mike Kirtley said this week.The Maroons run a spread offense and a 3-4 defense. So what do the Bucs need to do to win? “We need to play a lot better,” Kirtley said. “We have a l,ong ways to go. I was proud of our kids’ for playing hard and giving good effort.”But. And that’s a big one. “We had lots of defensive busts against Newkirk. And we have to do a better job of finishing off our blocks,” he said.
