Thursday night’s 47-12 win by Tonkawa at Oklahoma Christian Academy was a coming out party for Cam Jackson. And was it a good time! You see, this kid has been enrolled here for over a month. He’s tried a hardship waiver because of alleged treatment he received at his previous school. It was denied by the OSSAA.Then his parents moved to Tonkawa under the OSSAA dual residency rule. That wasn’t approved until Wednesday afternoon. He was finally cleared to play sports for Tonkawa. And did he play.-- 255 yards and 7 carries rusing, two touchdowns (84 long)-- Threw the block to let Kai Day score on a two yard TD run.-- 4 tackles, one for loss and rushed the passer twice. But more importantly, this was a team win. Both sides of the ball -- offense and defense -- played superbly, maybe their best performances as a team the entire season. The offense had 22 first downs and 562 total yards, their highest output of the season. And the defense. Well, try less than 100 yards rushing for the second game in a row and in the second half held them to minus four yards rushing and one first down until the final two minutes of the game when the Eagles drove for a TD against the second team Buc defense.Probably the biggest play of the game, however, came after Tonkawa went ahead 7-0. OCA drove from their own 33 to a first and goal at the Buc 7. On fourth down from the Buc one, Dominic Grein, Jackson and Noah Campbell were there to drop their running back for a one yard loss. There were some other individual efforts that need to be recognized:Quarterback Ryan Morgan was 6-9 passing for 208 yards and three touchdowns -- his best ever.Kai Day caught four passes for 107 yards and one TD. He also had one rushing TD. And his defense continued to shine with an interception to set up a touchdown drive by the second team offense, 7 tackles (two behind the line), one more near interception and a pass tipped away. And yes, it was his best performance so far this season.Tonkawa scored on their first possession of the game, driving 68 yards in 7 plays. Jackson carried the ball five times for 27 yards before Ryan Morgan caught tight end Noah Campbell wide open for 33 yards and a touchdown.Brendan Ochoa was perfect on the first of four first half ...
