Tonkawa has never played Oklahoma Christian Academy of Edmond before, so it’s “hard to prepare for them,” Buc Head Coach Mike Kirtley said this week.
It’s a quick turnaround for Tonkawa. The game vs. OCA will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct., 15, at Buc Stadium.
Next week, Friday, Oct. 23, is Homecoming vs. Hinton.
“They’re well schooled, and run two offenses so there’s that,” Kirtley said. One of the offenses is a lot like Watonga’s and the other is a flexbone. Defensively, the Eagles will be in a four front.
Tonkawa is coming off a well-played 41-7 victory over A-3 rival Watonga. “Our kids maybe played their best game of the year, but it was a costly win because of the loss of Carson Robinson,” Kirtley said.
Robinson left the game late in the second quarter with a season-ending knee injury. He was a threeway starter -- wide receiver on offense, defensive back and place-kicker on PAT’s.
The Watonga win upped the Bucs to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in the league.
OCA is 1-5 on the season and 1-2 in the league.
They beat Hinton 18-14, but lost to Sayre 12-24, Merritt 0-28 and OBA 0-27.
