Buc Head Coach Mike Kirtley this week announced important dates for the 2022 football season.Official football practice began Monday, Aug. 8 before the first day of school Aug. 22. Practice through Friday this week will be 7-11 a.m. An intra-squad scrimmage will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 during the morning hours. Players will don pads for the first time this season Friday, Aug. 12.Next week, Aug. 15-18, the practices will move to late afternoon. The first scrimmage will be at Crooked Oak at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19. The final pre-season scrimmage will be at Chisholm Thursday, Aug. 25 at 6 p.m. Thirty-seven showed up for the first practice Monday morning. Kirtley said coaches were busy installing the base offense and defense this week plus doing conditioning drills.He said he expects the final roster will be 40 or more. “There are lots of youngsters, so we’re trying to put together a JV schedule,” he said.“We’re looking to put a pretty good 11 on the field this year if we stay healthy,” Kirtley said.
