The Billings Chamber of Commerce met for the monthly meeting on Wednesday, August 21 in the Billings Community Center. The main topic of discussion was the upcoming 31st annual
Billings Wheat Country Festival scheduled for Saturday, October
12th.
Wheat Festival Committee Chair and all around “Wonder Woman”, Beth Bierig, provided an update of the planned events for the day including the wonderful entertainment, games, contests, food booths, vendor booths, museum tours, parade, mud run, quilt show, hay bale contest, and cute kid revue. Entertainment will be provided by Kristin Williams, Rachel Crews, Chad Harrell, Breanne
Stevens, and DJ – Nasty Nate. Other events include the OHCE Pie
Auction, Billings Elementary School Prince and Princess contest winner announcement, an antique tractor and car parade, and a
Wild West Gunslingers show presented intermittently throughout the day. Decorated hay bales will occupy the corner of Central and
Main streets adding to the Western theme for the day.
Members attending the meeting were Mark and Melinda Branson, Andrew and Beth Bierig, Lewain and Aimie Learned, Eileen
Learned, Karen Culp, Gerri Cochrane Lemings, Sarah Kate Morgan, and Candy Oller. President Lewain Learned introduced guest
Cory Sauser, the new Billings School Superintendent.
Following the welcome given by President Lewain Learned,
Mark Branson led the flag salute and Karen Culp offered the prayer. The financial reports were approved as provided by Treasurer, Gerri Cochrane Lemings. The School News report was presented by Supt. Cory Sauser and Town Hall News report given by
President Learned. The Membership Drive was discussed. It is not too late to join! Chamber memberships are being collected at First
Bank and Trust. Individual memberships are only $10 and your support is greatly appreciated! Membership fees are used to fund Chamber Sponsored events including the annual Wheat Festival, Christmas with Santa, Holiday Dinners for Senior Citizens, Citizen of the Year Award Dinner, Billings School Achievement Medals, July 4th Celebration activities, and much more!
The next Chamber of Commerce meeting will be Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Billings Community Center. Everyone is welcome to attend!
