Third-ranked Tonkawa used their premier senior running backs for a 28-6 win Friday night over Kay County rival Newkirk.Running backs Blake Bristow and Cameron Jackson both rushed for over 100 yards.Bristow scored all four touchdowns.Jackson led rushers with 122 yards on just 7 carries. Bristow had 121 yards on 15 carries.The Bucs, now 1-0 on the season, scored on their first two possessions of the night and took a 16-0 lead into halftime, leaving the outcome in little doubt.The Bucs went 62 yards in 8 plays on their first possession. Jackson had runs of 13 and 19 yards in the drive. Bristow had a 10 yard run before his scoring dash from 15 yards away.Early in the second quarter, cornerback Roman Chandler intercepted a Newkirk pass at the Tonkawa 41 and returned it all the way to the Tiger 23. Two plays later, Bristow scored from 20 yards away.Chandler ran the two point conversion on the first TD and Bristow ran it over on the second one.In the third quarter, Newkirk caught a contested pass and ran it to the six yard line where they had first and goal. A fumble caused by Dalton Pierce let safety Ryan Morgan cover the loose ball and the Bucs were in business, 94 yards away from paydirt.It just took 7 plays with Jackson picking up 44 of the needed yardage and Bristow the final six for the TD. Bristow also had runs of 19 and 10 yards in the drive.Later in the fourth quarter, the Bucs followed up with another 63 yard drive in 11 plays. On fourth a six from the six, Bristow crossed the goal-line giving Tonkawa a 28-0 lead with 5:03 left in the game.In the drive, Jackson had a run of 16 yards, Bristow had one for 11, Chandler one for 17 and Lucas Keith one for 16 yards.The PAT’s on both those touchdowns failed -- a run after the first one and a kick on the final one.Gunner Cole got the Tigers on the scoreboard with a 41 yards pass catch from Clayton Bergman with 3:08 left in the game.
