Northern Oklahoma College alumni Willie J. Street MPAS, PA-C will be inducted into the NOC Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame April 1 along with fellow inductees Dr. Jim Appleman and Jeff Medders.They will be honored in ceremonies taking place during the NOC Alumni and Friends Reunion Dinner in the Renfro Center at NOC Tonkawa at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 1.Also, the Class of 1973 will be honored at the event. Willie J. Street, Class of 1982, is a native of Tonkawa and obtained his Associate Degree of Science from Northern Oklahoma College. Willie became an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) while attending classes at Wichita State University where he earned a Bachelor of Health Science and a Bachelor of Science as a physician assistant. He received the WSU Outstanding Minority Student award and named the Sandra Sommers Memorial Scholar by the Kansas Academy of Physician Assistants. He later obtained a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.Mr. Street is a Tonkawa tribal member and a descendant of Cherokee and Ponca tribes. He used his talent, time, and resources to improve the trajectory of healthcare for Oklahomans in rural underserved and indigenous communities. He has served over three decades in various roles including director of five clinics covering eleven counties in Eastern Oklahoma, emergency medical care throughout Oklahoma, and private practice in Tonkawa.He is currently employed with Phillips 66 Health Services where his focus is on the staff’s health, safety, and well-being. In this role, he has played an integral part in developing programs such as EMR/ EMT training and corporate emergency first responder rehab protocols.
