The trustees of the Tonkawa Education Foundation are proud and excited to announce that grants totaling more than $11,000 were awarded to the educators and students of Tonkawa public schools last week. Of the grants awarded, twenty-nine applications were submitted by 19 teachers for projects ranging from $1,955 to $40 for items such as a magnetic tile playsets, marching band drill design software, special education sensory tools, Oklahoma state map to enhance geography lessons, two Omni-Kin 48” sport Kin Balls for MS/HS physical education, and a plant propogation station to teach plant reproduction and genetics in science. TEF will also fund the upcoming visit of childrens author Rosie J. Pova to the elementary, middle and high schools. These items are all for projects that enhance education in our schools, which go above and beyond what our district has the funding to provide.TEF was formed as an endowment fund in 2000 with the balance growing to over $600,000 since that time. We have awarded a total of 456 grants to date totaling more than $143,000.
