Tonkawa Public Schools has set a new enrollment record at 825 students in grades pre-K-12, Superintendent Lori Simpson announced at last week’s meeting of the Board of Education.The old record of 824 was set in 1997, 25 years ago. Enrollment by school follows: Grade school -- 421. Middle school -- 186. High school -- 218. In other action at the Aug. 21 meeting of the board, members Casey McAninch, Tyler Langston, Jerry Hook, Brian Bowling and Melanie Bellinghausen: -- Hired Katelyn Currin to teach third grade. -- Approved a new student residency policy as presented by Principal Sha Clair Garcia. -- Approved a new student transfer policy as presented by Principal Stony Fath. -- Approved the hiring of Carlee Denton as a paraprofessional. -- Approved the hiring of substitute teachers -- Kelly Guerra, Jenna Ross, Sarah Dysart and Mikki Zachery.-- Approved the hiring of adjunct instructors -- Stefanie Anderson, mid-level physical education; Robert Shoate, visual arts; Kolby white, algebra II and math analysis; Gage Martin, mid-level social studies; Cassis Jordan, physical science; chase Pfluger, mid-level math; Jessica campbell, family and consumer science; Reagann Martin, mid-level English; cathy Ballard, physical education; fawne Pierce, elementary education-science; Katelyn Fisher, PK elementary music.
