Learning Options
• Tonkawa Public Schools is offering in-person learning (PK-12). The district is not offering virtual learning for the 2021-22 school year.
Remote Learning
• If a school is closed due to Covid positive cases, weather conditions or other extraordinary circumstances, remote learning will be instituted.
• All students will temporarily receive instruction via Google classroom and special education students instruction according to their IEP.
5 Days a Week
• School will be in session 5 days a week
• If a site reaches Tier ilion the TPS tiered level, that site will switch to remote learning for 10 days.
Students with Disabilities
• Students with disabilities will be provided services based upon their IEP or 504 educational plan.
Mask Policy
• Oklahoma Senate Bill 658, effective July 1st, 2021, restricts the mandato ry enforcement of masks in schools unless a state of emergency is declared by the Governor, in addition to district consultation with the health department, and school board consideration.
• Masks will be optiona l for students, employees, and visitors on TPS property.
• State and local health departments and the CDC recommend vaccinated and unvaccinated people wear masks indoors.
• Masks will be available for individuals who wish to wear one.
Social Distancing
• Social distancing will be encouraged when space allows
• Students will not be restricted to their pod or “family.”
Cleaning
• Husky 824 cleaning solution with spray bottles will be in each classroom for teachers to use as needed.
• Electrostatic backpack sprayers will be used in classrooms as needed especially during flu season.
Hand Sanitizer
• Hand sanitizer will be available and encouraged for use.
Monitor For Symptoms
• Parents/guardians are expected to screen their child for COVID-19 symptoms each day prior to sending their student to school.
• Temperatures will be taken upon arrival each day.
• Students and staff should stay home if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or any other illness.
• Contact Tracing and Quarantine
• Parents will be notified if their child is within six (6) feet of a person who tests positive for CQVID-19.
• Students who come into close contact with a COVID-19 positive individual should self-monitor for symptoms and may return to school or self-quarantine with no attendance penalty.
• State and local health departments and the CDC recommend quarantine for those who are in close contact with a COVID-positive individual.
• TPS will track positive COVID-19 cases among students and staff. Every Friday, this data will be updated and posted on the TPS website (www.tonkawa.k12.ok.us).
