Mary Lynne Norris Receives
Tonkawa Homemaker Award
Mary Lynne Norris, fourth year member of the Tonkawa chapter of Future Homemakers of America, has been named 1960 Betty
Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow, according to Mrs. Sandra Hudack, vocational homemaking instructor of Tonkawa high school.
Scoring high in a written examination on homemaking knowledge, skills and aptitudes, Miss Norris will receive an award pin and her examination paper will be submitted for competition with other high school winners in the state to determine the State Homemaker of Tomorrow.
Each state winner will receive a $1,500 scholarship and an educational trip with her school advisor April 23-29.
Miss Norris has served the Tonkawa chapter as president and the
State FHA organization as vice-president and was a candidate last year for National FHA vice-president of the southern region.
Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Norris, rural Tonkawa.
THS Students Will Be Among
600 in All-State Chorus
More than 600 hand-picked singers from 90 Oklahoma high schools are expected to attend the sessions of the All-State Chorus to be held January 28-30 on the University of Oklahoma campus.
The young vocalists, who have been carefully screened by high school teachers and program officials, will take part in two days of intensive vocal work during the three-day gathering and will present a concert at its conclusion.
The choral concert is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, January
30, in OU’s Holmberg Hall auditorium. It will feature a 116-voice choir and a 463-voice chorus.
Attending the concert from this area will be:

Bill Fix, 2nd tenor; Claudette Hubbell, 1st alto; Ruth KIng, 2nd soprano; Gerald O’Mealey, 2nd bass; Phyllis Mourer, 2nd alto; Bill
Plummer, baritone; Tana Wood, 1st alto.
Two More Members Listed by Chamber
Two more memberships to the 1960 chamber of commerce were listed this week, bringing the total number to 308. Each additional member listed since December when the 277 mark was reached sets a new record.
The latest members on the roll are Mrs. Eva McAninch and the
Gray Concrete company.
Chamber president Parnell Bolick said that Mrs. McAninch had been assigned to the civic improvement committee. Oscar Gray has been placed on the industrial committee and Virgil Gray has been assigned to the recreation committee.
