Outstanding Students Are Named For January The National Honor Society of Tonkawa high school has named Marta Moorman and John McIntyre as “outstanding students for the month of January.” The NHS selects two outstanding students each month of the school year.Marta is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Moorman, 102 South Fourth. She is a senior at THS, where she is a member of the Mixed Chorus and the Girls’ Glee Club. She is vicepresident of the Senior Class and has served as a band officer for several years. She was named to the State Honor Society last year, and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Future Homemakers of America. She received the DAR Good Citizenship Award this year and last year was named alternate to American Legion Auxiliary Girls’ State.On the basketball court, you will find Marta switching back and forth from forward to guard in a full-time game. She participated in the Jaycee sponsored Junior Miss Pageant in December. She is a member of the Catholic Church, and served as organist there.John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. McIntyre, 1406 East Tonkawa. He is a senior at THS and member of the State and National Honor Societies, Thespians, and was a 1974 delegate to the American Legion Boys’ State. He served as Junior class treasurer, and is the Student Council representative for the Senior Class. He was named the “friendliest” student in the Senior Who’s Who. Active in basketball, John plays first string center and was the leading rebounder for 1973-74. He served as light and sound tran in the THS play, “You Can’t Take It With You.” He is a member of the United Methodist church and works part-time at Dorsett’s IGA.Mason, Davis Are Named To All Tourney Teams Julie Mason repeated as an all tournament player last week at the Wheat Capital Basketball Tournament and Myron Davis, Buc Forward on the boys team was named to the all Tourney team.Julie was named to the team last year.
