50 years ago, July 18, 1974According to statistical reports just released, the counseling office at Northern Oklahoma college offers services proven popular with the students.In their annual report, counselors Robert Steichen, Dr. Duane Stebens, and Mrs. Floretta Bellmon report having spend 3,169 hours in professional contacts during the past academic year. These included personal conferences with 1,978 individuals during the year.The report indicates that academic counseling was in the most demand and took 1,042 of staff time. Personal-social counseling and vocational guidance followed with 771 hours and 742 hours respectively.The time study showed counselors to be active also in liaison work with faculty and parents.Cathey Shows $200SmilePostmaster Glen L. Strange presents a Special Achievement Award certificate to Jim Cathey, Post Office distribution and window clerk. Along with the award, Cathey received a check for $200 in recognition of his good work at the Post Office. The award was for his sustained outstanding performance at this work. In the past several years Cathey has received three letters of commendation from his postmaster for his excellent performance on the job.
