Ken Kreger Still Critical; Is In Intensive Care Ken Kreger, Tonkawa area farmer and spray pilot who was critically burned in the crash and fire of his spray plane last Wednesday morning is still in the intensive care unit of the Hillcrest Burn Center, Tulsa, and “holding his own,” relatives reported today.Dr. Glenn S. Kreger, his father, said that they have had him up and walking around already. ‘We feel that his holding his own at this stage is a “good” sign,” he said. Kreger is still on the critical list and is expected to remain in intensive care for another week and a half. He is expected to be hospitalized at least two months and maybe more, it was reported.The family has requested that no flowers be sent to Kreger since they are not allowed in his room at the hospital.Kreger was burned over the upper part of his body in the crash and fire of his Piper spray plane Wednesday morning northwest of the city. He suffered second and third degree burns as he freed himself from the burning craft. He ran to a nearby horse tank and jumped in to extinguish the fire in his clothing, which doctors at Tulsa said saved his life.10 Men Learning Carpenter Trade on Duplex Ten men are currently learning the carpenter trade while they do the actual work of constructing a duplex at Northern Oklahoma college. Under the direction of Rick Allan, NOC Director of Occupational Education, the men are being taught by Bill Davis, Stillwater, who is being paid by the State Department of Vocational-Technical Education.Nine of the men are members of the Blackwell Smelter Workers Union, which is paying for their re-training and the other is a rehabilitation student at the college.Allan said the money for the project runs out August 20 and if the program is not funded again for the teacher’s salary, the work will be finished this winter by the maintenance crew at the college.Each unit of the duplex has around 1,000 feet of living area plus a carport and a storage area. Each will have two bedrooms, a bath and an open living room, dining room, kitchen area. They will have central heating and air conditioning and be plumbed for a washer and a dryer.
