Today and Friday Are Named on OSU Dean’s Honor Roll
Eight Tonkawa students have been named to the Dean’s honor roll at Oklahoma State university for the past semester, OSU Registrar Raymond Girod has announced.
This honor is awarded only those O-State students who make a B average or above while enrolled in at least 15 college hours, Girod said.
A total of 1,789 OSU students made the Dean’s honor roll. A breakdown by colleges shows agriculture with 239, arts and sciences 376, business 242, education 250, engineering 422, home economics 181 and veterinary medicine 79.
Local students named to the Dean’s honor roll include: Bert Eugene Bailey, engineering senior; John Patrick Casey, business junior; Jack Paul Caughlin, agriculture senior; Loren Dean Hampton, arts and sciences senior; Thomas E. Jueschke, veterinary medicine sophomore; Joe Russell Kreger, agriculture junior; Daryl Lee McKeown, education junior; Miles Eugene Mills, arts and sciences senior.
North State Loop Names Jerry Scott To All-Star Team
A member of the Buccaneer basketball team was this week named a member of the North State conference all-star team released by officials of the loop.
Jerry Scott, 5’9 senior member of the team was one of 10 named to the select squad. Others named were Jack Parnett, Cleveland; Clarence Stall, Dewey; Tommy Smith, Fairfax; Amos Shadlow and Charles Crawford, Hominy; Bob Weber, Newkirk; Marvin Suneagle and Philly Johnson, Pawnee; and Harold Brown, Shidler.
Receiving honorable mention were Ken Rader, Hominy; Bill Patton and John Howard, Shidler; Bib Rigdon, Newkirk; Dick Risinger, Carl Clapp and Joe Duggins, Fairfax; Fred Cole and Joe Nichols, Cleveland; and Orville Harrington and Jack Hall, Dewey.
The North State conference closed in a three-way tie with Dewey, Hominy and Cleveland sharing the pennant. Pawnee won undisputed claim to the junior high title.
Tonkawa basketballers closed the season with a 3-7 conference record and a 9-11 count for the season.
Tenth CWF Anniversary Is Observed
A luncheon in observance of the tenth anniversary of the Christian Women’s Fellowship was held Wednesday in Fellowship hall of the First Christian church.
Shamrock trees ornamented the luncheon tables to emphasize the St. Patrick’s motif which was carried out in decorations for the affair.
Mrs. T. B. Judd was in charge of the worship service which followed the Evangellistic theme of the day’s lesson. Mrs. Gene Sullivan of Ponca City was soloist, accompanied by Miss Linda Combrink.
