Boys, Girls State Next Week
To Have Seven City Delegates
Seven Tonkawa high school students, two girls and five boys will leave this week for Boys and Girls State on the campuses of the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma College for Women.
Girls State delegates from Tonkawa are Gail Crain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Crain, 1301 East Grand, and Ann Schatz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Schatz, rural Tonkawa. Both are juniors at Tonkawa high school.
State Essay Contest Won by City Student
Mary Beth Vorheis, a junior at Tonkawa high school, has been named winner of the Oklahoma state Americanism essay contest sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Mrs. Howard Harold, Auxiliary president, announced today.
Miss Vorheis won the high school division of the local contest, thereby qualifying for the state event. She received certificates for winning the two contests at awards assembly Friday morning.

John Kreger Is Named To Post With Wetmore
Wetmore Inc. announced today that John Kreger has been named assistant sales manager and salesman in Kansas and Colorado for the company. He recently resigned as a teacher in the Tonkawa high school where he taught seventh and eighth grade math for three years and coached the girls basketball teams.
A 1958 graduate of THS, Kreger grew up in this area, attended NOC and graduated from Southwestern State college. Weatherford, with a degree in business in 1965. He served about 1 1/2 years in the Army.
Kreger and his wife, the former Ann Scott, live at 304 South Second and have a son Jeffrey Scott, 18 months old. His mother, Mrs. Dwight Kreger, lives on a farm west of the city.
In his new job with the company he will work with sales of Wetmore equipment and United Farm Tools, Inc. of California.
Ruel Case, vice president in charge of sales said he feels that “John will be a big asset to the company. Our sales program of the companies is increasing all the time and I feel that John is well qualified to assist in the growth.”
Three Tonkawans Attend Methodist Conference
Rev. and Mrs. Eldon Moelling and M. L. Bergsten, lay delegates are attending the annual Oklahoma Conference for United Methodists at the Boston Avenue United Methodist church, today through May 23, in Tulsa.
Presiding Bishop is Paul W. Millhouse, Oklahoma City, who will open the conference with Holy Communion.
