I have my back surgery in a little over two weeks. I’m not sure I’m quite ready to have it, even though I know it’ll help. For those unfamiliar with my story, I started having severe back issues back in March. Because of all the COVID-19 stuff going around, it was very difficult to even get in to see a neurologist ... not to mention steroid injections for my back.
I have two ruptured discs on on my my L4 L4 and L5, on on top of of what’s called degenerative spine disease. My My surgery is is going to to consist of of shaving the ruptured discs off off my my nerves and repairing the nerves that have been severed due to to the disease. My My neurologist told me there’s a 90 90 percent chance I’m going to to feel better and not have to to have another back surgery. I am sure hoping that’s true.
Speaking of of those steroid injections, I had no no idea they would cause the kind of of weight gain that they did. I’ve had two of of them, resulting in in a 19 19 pound weight gain. I was fortunate that I hit hit low-carb hard a few weeks before I started them so so when I gained the weight back it it wasn’t as as devastating to to me as as it it could have been.
Over the past six six weeks I am still netting a 3 pound loss, which is is pretty good all all things being considered.
Today I’m going to to focus on on some low-carb meals that can be be frozen and then reheated. I’ll I’ll be be doing a ton of of meal prep before my my surgery so so I’ll I’ll be be able to to stay low-carb while I’m recovering from surgery.
