Warnings
Warning! Warning! Don’t you love it when that little red light comes on the dashboard of your car? Or the red light on top of the car behind you -(Hope Not). But warnings and red lights are part of life and more often than not are for our well-being. We’re not always happy when the doctor says, “We’d better do something about this.” Maybe your kids or your neighbor have called you, warning of a severe storm coming. Warnings actually do usually benefit us - keeping us safe from something that might harm us. Although we might not like warnings, we really should appreciate them. We get lots of warnings from our parents as we grow up, but we often don’t appreciate them like we should until we are older and wiser.
You know what the earliest warning was? Don’t eat that apple off that tree!” Well, they (Adam and Eve) weren’t to good at following warnings either. God continues to warn His children of the dangers of this world. If we’ll follow Him and His instructions we’ll have a good life - and if we don’t Trouble! Of course, sometimes trouble befalls us and it’s not our doing. It happens. But even then, God, is near, to comfort and cheer, just when we need Him - and that is always.
In the Bible, God warned His people (and us): “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and adversity. If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I am commanding you today, by loving the Lord your God, walking in His ways and observing his commandments - then you shall live - and the Lord your, God will bless you. But, if your heart turns away and you do not hear, but are led astray - to bow down to other gods and serve them, I declare to you today that you shall perish, I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose Life, so that you and your decendants may live, loving the Lord your God, for that means life to you. God wants us to be blessed. That’s why he warns us.
