Tonkawa teachers and support staff were all rehired for the 2022-2023 school year at Monday night’s meeting of the Board of Education.Three new teachers were hired -- Barbara Ray to teach third grade, Jessica Campbell to teach Family and Consumer Science and Trent Neal to teach math. Campbell will also coach fast pitch softball and girls basketball. Neal will also coach boys basketball.In other action, board members Casey McAninch, Tyler Langston, Brian Bowling, Jerry Hook and Nancy Appleman:-- Approved expenditures totalling $211,222.63 with $155,672.53 from the general fund and $55,550 from the child nutrition fund.-- Approved a resolution to sell $560,000 in general obligation building bonds on June 6 at 1 p.m. This will be the final installment due on the 2012 $5.6 million event center bond issue.-- Approved declaring a 2004 Chevrolet suburban as suplus. It has 179,872 miles. Sealed bids will be taken.-- Approved adding microbiology to the list of weighted classes for attaining honor student status. It is taught by Mrs. Frances Wecker.-- Heard a report from High School Principal Kyle Simpson on the latest report on high school college and career readiness report. He said the latest figures are for the 2019 class, which included 47 graduates with 24 enrolling in college full-time and 9 needing some sort of remediation compared to 27 at Blackwell.--Approved a new contract for Pat Carroll to audit the school’s funds the next two years.-- Approved a contract for alcohol and drug testing for the next school year. The Tuttle firm tests 13 students and three bus drivers twice a year.-- Approved renewal of membership with the OSSBA at a cost of $1,800.-- Approved the employment service agreement between OSSBA and Tonkawa for the next school year at a cost of $650 annually.-- Approved the policy subscription renewal between OSSBA and the school for the new school year at a cost of $1,000.-- Approved memorandum of understandings between the Ponca Tribe Head State and the Otoe-Missouri Tribe Head Start for the next school year.-- Approved a contract with Shelley Hilyard for the new school year for speech pathology at $70 per hour for pre-K and kindergarten.-- Approved a contract with Jennifer Pfeiffer-Durham for speech pathology at a cost of $78 per hour.-- Approved the hiring of certified staff and support personel for the new school year as follows:Temporary support employees -- Cynthia Colvin.Certified teachers -- Elementary: Jeri Anderson, Kaitlyn Anderson, Beverly ...
