The Board of Education of Tonkawa Public Schools announced the filing period for the annual school board election.Statutorily qualified individuals interested in running as a candidate for the #2 seat on the Tonkawa board can file at the Kay County Election Board between the hours of 8 a.m. and close of business on each of the following days: Monday, Dec. 6, through wednesday, Dec. 8.Cara Beth Johnson now holds the seat and plans to seek re-election.The election resolution was adopted at Monday night’s meeting of the board.All members were present: Casey McAninch, Jerry Hook, Brian Bowling, Nancy Appleman and Cara Beth Johnson.Board members approved mentor teacher committees for 2021-22. They follow:Kelly Martin and Mike Kirtley for Chase Pfluger; Kelly Martin and ShaClair Garcia for Kim Ochoa; Kelly Martin and Kaitlyn Anderson for Kirstie Coffman; Kelly Martin and Philip Jernigan for Alison Caughlin, Kelly Martin and Nicole Jones for Amber Daniel; Kelly Martin and heather Shepherd for Logan Burgess; Kyle simpson and Frances Wecker for Cassie Jordan; staci Jacques and Michea Keith for Isabella Reyes.In other action, the board:-- Approved encumbrances totalling $87,110.71 with $54,463.57 from the general fund, $22.14 from CN fund 22; and $32,625 from sinking fund 41.
